Aftercare
Cocoa Village Tattoo Gallery Saniderm aftercare instructions:
Helpful tips:
● The best way to remove the Saniderm is to find an edge of the bandage and pull it back over itself
in the direction of hair growth, pulling upward can be painful and should be avoided.
● We recommend removing the bandage in the shower with warm water, this should help loosen the
adhesive and make it easier to remove.
● To ensure proper adhesion, you should leave a 1-2 inch border around the edge of your tattoo.
● Rounding the sharp corners of the bandage will reduce peeling around the edges.
Commonly asked Questions:
Can I shower while wearing Saniderm?
Yes! Saniderm stays on the skin even in water, so you’re able to shower as normal. It is waterproof, however excessive
water exposure should be avoided for it can weaken the adhesive. It’s best to avoid swimming or soaking.
Can I sunbathe while wearing Saniderm?
Saniderm does not contain any kind of sun/ UV protection, so you should avoid prolonged UV exposure. It’s best to
avoid UV rays on a new tattoo with or without saniderm. Even after your tattoo is fully healed, continue to use sun
protection to maintain the integrity of your tattoo long-term.

Traditional Aftercare Instructions:
The aftercare of your tattoo will greatly determine the way your tattoo will look once it is finally healed.
● Wear your wrapped bandage for around an hour, then remove it and wash the tattoo gently with dial antibacterial soap.
● Gently pat dry with a paper towel; Do not rub back and forth.
● Apply a very THIN layer of A&D ointment to your tattoo a few minutes after washing. Pat dry the extra A&D if you applied too much; there should be no build-up of ointment on the tattoo.
● You will need to wash your new tattoo 2-3 times daily as above and reapply A&D as needed.
● DO NOT PICK SCABS! This will cause your tattoo to bleed and will pull ink out of your skin.
● Avoid body wash, lotions, and shampoos that have fragrance.
● Do not swim or go into a hot tub for 2 weeks.
● Avoid direct sunlight and UV exposure.
● After the tattoo is fully healed you will want to wear sunscreen when spending
excessive time in the sun to hold the integrity and vibrancy of the tattoo. Do not put sunscreen on a tattoo that isn’t fully healed.
● Wear loose clothing over your tattoo while it heals to avoid any rubbing that may pull off scabs.
